 It cannot hide its family resemblance to the Golf. The new Polo takes on the grill and the character of its bigger brother. It is 5 cm longer and 3.3 cm wider than the previous model. But the height, by contrast, has come down by 1.3 cm. Nothing revolutionary inside the cab, which remains within norms. The finishing level of this Polo, whose central console is angled towards the driver, is of good quality and progress has been made in terms of passive security. The monocoque structure is more rigid and 7.5% lighter.The engines on offer continue to be the 3 cylinder 1.2 petrol (60 and 70 bhp) to which will be added the 1.2 TSi (105 bhp), the 1.4 MPi (85 bhp) and the 1.6 TDI. This last version should account for most sales. It will be offered in 75, 90 and 105 bhp power levels, all with particulate filters. A Common Rail engine which P-Tronic has already been equipping for some time because VAG has been making it available for some while on the Golf and the Audi A3. |
