 Volkswagen is launching the automatic transversal 7-speed double declutching DSG-7 gearbox. In the first instance, it will only be offered on the Golf and Golf Plus equipped with the 1.4 FSI petrol and 1.9 TDI 105 bhp engines in view of the low level of torque that it can support: 250 Nm. The DSG-7, whose clutch lubrication is carried out dry, enables the 1.9 TDI to save 0.7 litres of diesel per 100 km. VW has also announced that this box is combined with the Hill-Start Assist function. This makes starting on hills easier by blocking the brakes until acceleration occurs to move the vehicle. |
