Following the Opel Insignia, the Opel Astra is now to house the famous 2.0 CDTI biturbo developing 195 bhp and 400 Nm. The two turbos of this engine are of differing size. At low revs, only the smaller one works. It is assisted by the larger one in the medium rev range, with the larger one taking its turn to go solo at higher revs. The whole of the range benefits from this: the Astra, the Sports Tourer and the GTC. Models which, armed with this 195 bhp 2.0 CDTI, set new top speed records of 222 to 226 km/h. With stop&start as standard, these Astra models require only 4.9 to 5.1 litres of fuel per 100 km. The P-Tronic box unit for this engine is already available. It enables 235 km/h and 496 Nm to be achieved.
