 Carbon Motors is THE American specialist manufacturer of police vehicles. Straight out of a science fiction film, its new E7 intervention vehicles will be equipped with turbo-diesel engines. And this is a major first. The engines will be 3.0 BMW 300 bhp, 580 Nm units. Enough power to catapult the E7 to 100 km/h in under 7 seconds and go on to 250 km/h. All of this with fuel consumption announced at 8.1 litres of diesel per 100 km.Allied to an automatic gearbox, this engine will be fitted with an emissions-reducing device. BMW will supply 240,000 of these engines to Carbon Motors for the production of this E7 which will take to the roads in 2012. |
