Five times world motocross champion, Georges Jobé has always been a man of feeling. What made him stand out as a competitor was that he was a perfectionist and that he was able to become one with his machine. It is therefore in his capacity as a genuine specialist that he gives his opinion on the P-Tronic additional box unit which is fitted to his BMW X6 xDrive35d.
When Georges Jobé came to the P-Tronic workshops, his BMW X6 xDrive35d was immediately placed on the power bank. A few minutes later, the rollers started whirring to calculate the original performance figures. The verdict was that the power and torque of his X6 were very close to those quoted in the catalogue: 289 bhp and 588 Nm.
From the noise of the engine and the behaviour of the bank, it is already very clear. The increase in power and torque is substantial. And the graph confirms this: 81 extra bhp and 137 Nm of extra torque. The champion is amazed. And when he speaks it is as a connoisseur. "Even though I had heard about it, I had no personal experience of the additional box unit", admits Georges Jobé. "I am very well placed to know that in the world of mechanics a lot of people talk a great deal, but when you dig deeper, there is often nothing behind it. With P-Tronic, quite the opposite is true. When I see how the work is carried out, I feel particularly confident. The manufacturing is carried out by people who know their jobs, the structure is professional and I have been able to observe, backed up by the figures, that the product works very well. This really is something concrete".
"To find out what this box unit has in its tank", explains Jojo, "I first of all launched my X6 onto a highly sloping motorway slip road. I immediately felt the extra torque from very low revs and the way it worked in the mid-range. Confirmation of this came as I drove more. In the end, driving pleasure was improved in every gear after the installation of the box unit, even at low speeds. I would emphasise the advantages even more in terms of torque. But the extra power also proves to be significant when I accelerate. A bit like having somebody pushing the car to help out with acceleration…" The vehicle : BMW X6 xDrive35d The box-unit : P-Tronic APTBB6 Functioning: the APT additional box unit adapts the volume and timing of the injection of diesel while also adapting the pressure of the rail within the tolerances set by the manufacturer.
